Managing Energy Costs And Securing Jobs For Benalla

22 March 2018

The Andrews Labor Government is helping a family owned Benalla manufacturer manage its energy costs, boost its productivity and secure local jobs.

Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford and Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes visited D & R Henderson today to announce Labor Government support that will help the company commission a $1.3 million upgrade of its timber flake dryer system.

The upgrade will ensure the local manufacturer of softwood timber, particleboard and melamine laminated products can continue to employ 185 staff, increase its production capacity and cut its carbon footprint.

The Labor Government has committed $90 million in additional funding through the Victorian Budget 2017/18 to attract new businesses to Victoria and help existing businesses expand.

There are multiple existing programs that can help businesses manage and reduce their energy costs by increasing their energy efficiency, supporting renewable energy generation and storage, and updating equipment and purchasing new equipment.

Businesses that are major energy users or that have experienced a large increase in the price of energy, and employ a significant number of workers, should call Business Victoria on 13 22 15 or visit business.vic.gov.au/energy-supportExternal Link .
