Making Victoria A State Of Innovators

11 December 2017

The Andrews Labor Government is investing in Victoria’s future as a global innovation centre with $50,000 to inspire the next generation of problem solvers and equip them with the skills they need.

The Labor Government is partnering with the Royal Society of Victoria and the Commonwealth Government to deliver the state’s Inspiring Australia program which will be chaired by Amanda Caples, Victoria’s Lead Scientist.

The partnership will connect everyday Victorians with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) by demonstrating how it is improving decision-making, business efficiency and solving some of our greatest everyday challenges.

The partnership will collaborate with science-focused organisations such as Museums Victoria, the EPA and the Bureau of Meteorology to connect Victorians with cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.

The Whittlesea, Ballarat and Monash Tech Schools will help deliver community STEM awareness activities where local communities will be engaged on key scientific issues including new health technologies and advanced manufacturing.

Victoria’s Inspiring Australia Program complements the Victorian Government’s $128 million Tech Schools initiative to establish 10 state-of-the art Tech Schools across the state to deliver the advanced education and training that Victorian school students will need to flourish in the rapidly changing global economy.

Victoria’s Inspiring Australia 2018 activities will include the state’s program for National Science Week in August and are planned to kick off from February 2018.
