Major Boost For Towong Schools

The Andrews Labor Government is upgrading school sports facilities in areas affected by the summer’s devastating bushfires, with funding announced for three schools in Towong.

Minister for Education James Merlino today announced Bethanga Primary School, Corryong College and Tallangatta Primary School will share in $2.2 million for upgrades and repairs.

Corryong College will receive $1.2 million for new sensory play equipment, shade sails, landscaping and a new synthetic finish on the senior outdoor basketball court. The gymnasium will also be upgraded with new toilet and shower blocks, along with air conditioning.

Tallangatta Primary School will have its outdoor sports courts resurfaced, along with upgrades to its pathways, flooring and stairwells and site drainage through a $883,000 boost.

Bethanga Primary School will also receive more than $125,000 to resurface its outdoor sports court, along with upgrades their grandstand and stairs.

Under the Labor Government’s school building boom 100 new schools will open by 2026, ensuring every child can access a great local school where they can achieve their best.

The Labor Government has invested $6.1 billion to deliver more than 1,400 school upgrades and supporting more than 7,500 construction jobs for Victorians.

The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and education.
