Major Bendigo TAFE Rebuild Taking Shape

22 October 2020

Students in Bendigo will soon have the state-of-the-art training facilities they deserve, thanks to the Victorian Government.

Minister for Training and Skills and Higher Education Gayle Tierney today joined Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan and Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards for a site tour of Bendigo TAFE’s $60 million Bendigo City campus revitalisation project.

The project is delivering an education precinct that will boost activity in Bendigo’s central business district and be a major asset for regional Victoria.

It will include a new three-storey building along Chapel Street, the refurbishment and repurposing of existing campus building, and the demolition of an existing building to make way for the construction of the Bendigo Law Courts.

The new and refurbished building will provide a Learning Hub that will be a one-stop shop for learning and student support, with collaborative spaces for students, teachers and the community.

There will also be a new Industry Innovation Centre that will provide a flexible and accessible place for Bendigo TAFE and industry to work together.

The current Bendigo Technical Education Campus operations will move to the Bendigo City Campus as part of the upgrade.

The project was designed by award-winning Victorian architects Architectus and Six Degrees. Kane Nicholson was appointed as the main works contractor in December and the sod was turned on the project in February. The project is on track to be completed in June 2021.

Since 2015, the Government has invested more than $1.5 billion to rebuild our TAFE and training system and ensure students can get the skills they need for the jobs they want.
