Jess Wilson’s Liberals have announced if elected they will cut trains to Melton and Wyndham Vale.
That means less trains to Melton, Tarneit, Caroline Springs and Wyndham Vale.
Shadow Minister Matthew Guy has promised to take VLocity train sets off western services despite admitting it would leave the corridor “thin”.
That is the Liberal’s transport plan for Melbourne’s west: cuts to trains.
While Jess Wilson’s Liberals promise public transport cuts, the Allan Labor Government is investing Melbourne’s west:
- More buses for the west
- Longer nine-car trains on the Wyndham Vale line
- Extra trains on the Werribee line
- The massive upgrade of the Melton line.
Labor is also making public transport more affordable, extending free public transport before delivering half-price fares across Victoria from June, with daily fares capped at $5.70.
The difference could not be clearer.
While Jess Wilson and the Liberals would cut services in the west, Labor is delivering more trains, more buses and cheaper fares.
If the Liberals are already promising to put train services in the west on the chopping block, what else would they cut if they got the chance?
Jess Wilson’s Liberals have an $11.5 billion budget blackhole which means one thing: cuts.
Only Labor can be trusted to deliver the services the western suburbs need.
