Labor Government Secures Jurassic World: The Exhibition

29 November 2015

The Andrews Labor Government has secured the world premiere of Jurassic World: the Exhibition.

Minister for Tourism and Major Events John Eren today announced Victoria’s latest showstopper would open at the Melbourne Museum in March before embarking on a global tour. Victoria is the only Australian State hosting the exhibition.

A unique, immersive exhibition experience, Jurassic World: The Exhibition allows guests to get closer to dinosaurs than ever before. The Exhibition features encounters with realistic, life-size animatronic dinosaurs set in highly themed environments inspired by the film.

The dinosaurs are being developed by Melbourne’s own Creature Technology Company, renowned for producing the world’s most technologically sophisticated and realistic animatronics for arena spectaculars and stage shows, including those featured in the worldwide hit, Walking with Dinosaurs.

The Melbourne Museum exhibition is based on Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World, one of the biggest blockbusters in cinema history.

Australians enjoy major exhibitions and love seeing them in Melbourne – the figures prove it. Since 2004, our impressive list of exclusive exhibitions have attracted a combined audience of more than 5.3 million people, including more than 560,000 visitors to Victoria. That’s a $427 million boost to our economy.

Victoria is the events capital of Australia, and we want to stay that way. The Labor Government is investing an additional $80 million towards its events war chest, so the State is perfectly positioned to continue to grow its calendar.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Tourism and Major Events, John Eren

“Jurassic World: the Exhibition is going to be an absolute showstopper, and we’ve got it first. This is a unique opportunity to discover what life was like thousands of years ago when dinosaurs roamed the earth.”

“The big exhibitions like Jurassic World mean thousands of visitors converge on Victoria, and that’s an enormous win for Victorian businesses and State’s economy.”

“Victoria’s events stocks are strong under a Labor Government. We’ll keep working hard to deliver the biggest and best events that make our State strong.”
