Labor is building more homes for Victorians.
Today, the Allan Labor Government broke ground at the Fitzroy Gasworks.
It’s where 1,400 new homes, green open space and community infrastructure is being built for Victorians.
The Liberals and Greens want to block housing in Victoria.
The Greens' local member has spent years fighting this development.
While Jess Wilson’s Liberals are planning to cut 300,000 new homes and hand power back to council blockers.
Labor’s way is different – well-designed, modern homes. Close to schools, transport, work and services.
On the corner of Alexandra Parade and Smith Street, Parcel B is the first site to be developed.
It will deliver 513 build-to-rent homes, including 121 social homes and 43 affordable homes.
The project will feature green open spaces, a rooftop garden, co-working and event spaces, cafés and a gym.
The project is being delivered in partnership with the Albanese Labor Government and Housing Choices Australia, with construction expected to finish in 2028.
Labor has already delivered Australia’s first vertical multi-use sports centre at the site – a much-needed community sport venue in the inner north. It features:
- four courts for basketball, netball, and volleyball
- a futsal pitch
- gymnasium
- café and lounge area
- community facilities and an outdoor garden.
The site is also home to the Wurun Senior Campus. The precinct will also feature more than 1,000 bicycle parking spaces, 150 public car parking bays and 175 additional resident basement parking.
Only Labor has new solutions to make housing easier and more affordable for young Victorians.
