The Andrews Labor Government is improving the treasured Barwon Heads Main Jetty for boaters, fishers and pedestrians to enjoy.
Minister for Ports and Freight Melissa Horne today joined Member for Bellarine Lisa Neville in Barwon Heads to announce more than $200,000 to improve the jetty.
The investment will mean major maintenance works can be carried out on the jetty – improving berthing for recreational boaters and access for anglers and pedestrians.
The major maintenance works to the 60-year-old jetty will replace timber piles, whalers, decking, steel framing and handrails on the iconic structure.
They will play a major role in invigorating the iconic jetty for years to come and revitalising the township to attract more visitors.
The Barwon Coast Committee of Management manages the jetty and 13 kilometres of coastal Crown land reserves, which also provides funding for the management of the natural and developed coastal environments.
The Labor Government is investing in local ports across the state – to upgrade and carry out maintenance to improve facilities for fishers, boaters, tourists and local communities.
