Hume Moreland Orange Door Network Now Open

15 February 2022

The Andrews Labor Government is ensuring women and families across Melbourne’s north can access coordinated family violence, child and family wellbeing services in one place, with the opening of the Orange Door Network in Hume Moreland.

Minister for Prevention of Family Violence Gabrielle Williams today announced the Orange Door has officially commenced operations in Hume Moreland, providing support for families in the two local government areas.

The Orange Door is a free service that brings together workers from family violence, men’s, Aboriginal and child and family services to provide coordinated support including crisis assistance, support to families under stress, risk assessments, safety planning and wellbeing support, as well as a range of community-based services.

The Orange Door in Hume Moreland is a strong partnership between Berry Street Victoria, DPV Health, Uniting (Vic-Tas), Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency, Victoria Aboriginal Community Services Association and the Victorian Government.

Victoria is leading the nation with its work to end family violence, with more than $3.5 billion invested since the Royal Commission into Family Violence – more than every other state and territory combined, and more than the Commonwealth.

The Orange Door Network – a key recommendation of the landmark Royal Commission - has assisted more than 195,000 people, including more than 77,000 children, since it commenced in 2018. The Australian-first initiative is now operating in 14 regions across the state, with the remaining three regions to be open before the end of 2022.

The Orange Door in Hume Moreland is open Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 5.00pm. More information and contact details are available at orangedoor.vic.gov.au
