Horsham Hosts A Great Day Of Country Cup Racing

28 October 2016

Racegoers heading to today’s Millers Horsham Cup will benefit from a $72,000 funding package announced by Minister for Racing Martin Pakula.

The Andrews Labor Government is providing almost $35,000 towards the event through the Victorian Racing Industry Fund Raceday Attraction Program.

This year’s major draw card will be the ‘buy one, get one free’ ticket offer to the Texan Warney Marquee, which will provide free admission, a complimentary race book, and food and drinks.

Other entertainment will include live music, a big screen, jumping castle, dance workshop, supervised sports for children and a Fashions on the Field competition.

Last year’s cup meeting was a success, with almost 1300 racegoers attending to enjoy a great day out at the country races.

Today’s meeting is part of Country Racing Victoria’s Spring Campaign, which covers 61 race meetings across regional Victoria from 18 September to 27 November 2016.

The Horsham & District Racing Club has also contributed almost $17,000 towards the event, with Country Racing Victoria giving $8000, and a further $12,500 in donated services and products provided by club sponsors.

The racing industry in the Wimmera region generates more than $37 million for the Victorian economy and helps sustain more than 360 full-time equivalent jobs.
