Labor is backing workers with free AI training to do their jobs with AI assistance.

Applications are now open for the new $8.2 million AI Career Conversion program.

The courses help businesses adopt new technology by giving workers the skills they need to make AI work for them.

Two rounds of tailored, intensive training per year will upskill 1,300 workers to adopt AI in their work.

The training will cover fields like data analytics, software development, digital marketing and business operations.

They aim to prepare Victorians for emerging roles like AI adoption, prompt engineering and agent management.

Businesses in key sectors can enroll staff in free four-to-six-week specialist AI courses or one-day workshops.

Leading providers including RMIT University, Melbourne Business School and Swinburne University of Technology will deliver the courses, ensuring safety and ethical use are a core part of the programs.

Keeping humans in control of AI is critical if Victoria is to take advantage of the efficiencies AI can deliver while managing the concerns we see emerging.

The Labor Government’s AI Mission Statement sets a bold vision for Victoria to lead the nation in the responsible adoption of AI.

Digital technology is transforming every part of the economy, from health care and logistics to finance, manufacturing and creative industries.

That’s why Labor is giving Victorian workers the skills to adopt AI into their role and supporting National Cabinet’s AI standards.

Only Labor is safeguarding jobs in industries at risk from AI.

“This training is so important, because it helps workers stay in control of tech.”

“Keeping a human in the loop is key to safe, ethical AI use across the Victorian economy. Only Labor is giving workers the skills to use AI, not be replaced by it.”
