Helping Mulgrave Kids Stay Active

The Allan Labor Government is helping more kids get active and fostering the talents of Victoria’s future sports stars, with the latest round of the Get Active Kids Voucher  Program supporting kids across the state to get involved in sport and recreation, no matter their background.

Premier Jacinta Allan and new Member-elect for Mulgrave Eden Foster today visited Noble Park Aquatic Centre to meet the latest recipients of the program, which supports children and families to participate in local sport.

Through the program, eligible families can apply for vouchers up to $200 per child to use for club memberships, registration fees, uniforms or equipment – encouraging children to participate in local sport without parents needing to worry about upfront costs.

Since the Labor Government started the program in 2020, more than 115,000 vouchers have been given to Victorian families – with around half of the recipients in the most recent round saying they would not have been able to stick with the sport without the voucher.

For kids to be eligible, they must be 18 and under, a Victorian resident, named on a valid Commonwealth Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, and named on a valid Medicare Card when they apply.

A special consideration stream is also available to support children in Victorian Care Services, temporary or provisional visa holders, undocumented migrants and international students aged 18 and under.

The Victorian Budget 2023/24 is investing more than $11 million for initiatives like the Get Active Kids Voucher Program to help keep kids active, healthy and happy while addressing key barriers to participation.
