Helping Bendigo Sports Clubs Grow

16 November 2016

The Andrews Labor Government is giving grassroots sports clubs in Bendigo the help they need to put local communities first and attract more members than ever before.

Minister for Sport John Eren today announced 10 clubs in Central Victoria would share in nearly $12,000 as part of the latest round of the Labor Government’s Sporting Club Grants Program.

Grassroots sports clubs are at the heart of Victorian communities. They keep families connected, kids happy and healthy and communities safe. Our Sporting Club Grants Program is helping these important institutions grow.

Grants will cover the costs of new equipment like bats or balls, modern uniforms, or development programs. Victoria is the sporting state, and it starts at the grassroots. Our $100 million Community Sports Infrastructure Fund is helping clubs all over Victoria update tired grounds and build the facilities they need.

We’ve established a Better Indoor Stadiums Fund, to build stadiums for sports like basketball and netball where they’re needed, and we’ve boosted the Country Football Netball Program to help regional and rural clubs thrive.

A list of successful clubs can be found on the next page.
