Thousands more homes are set to be unlocked in Melbourne – making it easier to find a place to call home.
The Allan Labor Government has opened community consultation on new plans that will deliver more than 9,000 homes and 1,800 local jobs in Merrimu and Cardinia Creek.
It’s part of Labor’s plan to make it easier for Victorians to find a home closer to where they want to live.
Because Victorians deserve a real choice about where they live.
In Merrimu, north of Bacchus Marsh, plans developed with Moorabool Shire Council are underway for a brand-new community.
The plan includes 8,000 homes and 1,800 jobs.
It also includes new schools and community facilities, a local retail centre, parks and green spaces, new roads and drainage infrastructure
In Melbourne’s southeast, the Cardinia Creek South (Part 2) plan will unlock land for 1,200 more homes.
The plan expands the existing PSP and delivers the infrastructure a growing community needs – including roads, parks, community facilities and drainage.
Together, the plans help deliver Victoria’s longest ever pipeline of land for new homes in our greenfields.
Consultation is open for Merrimu until 9 April 2026 and Cardinia Creek South (Part 2) until 12 April 2026.
While Labor is building more homes and planning the infrastructure communities need, Jess Wilson and the Liberals are focused on locking young Victorians out of living where they want to live.
