Have Your Say On Melbourne Metro Rail Project

07 August 2015

Consultation and planning has begun on the Melbourne Metro Rail project one of Australia’s largest infrastructure projects: two nine-kilometre underground rail tunnels that will transform Melbourne’s public transport system.

The Andrews Labor Government is asking every Victorian to share their views and take part in a community survey over the next few weeks. The survey will help ongoing planning and future community information updates.

We want as many Victorians as possible to visit www.mmrailproject.vic.gov.au/surveyExternal Link and have their say on Melbourne’s newest underground rail line.

Melbourne Metro teams will be visiting train stations along the Sunbury and Cranbourne/Pakenham lines over the coming weeks to hand out survey information.

The survey takes around 10 minutes to complete and will be open until close of business on 28 August 2015. Broader public consultation for the project is set to take place later this year.

Melbourne Metro will deliver two new nine-kilometre rail tunnels and five new stations to Melbourne’s rail network, unlocking capacity in the City Loop, leading to more frequent and reliable services on many of our busiest rail lines.

Geotechnical and other minor works are well underway, with major works set to commence in 2018.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan

“The Andrews Labor Government wants the community to have their say and to help us shape this transformation of our public transport system. I encourage people to take the time to visit mmrailproject.vic.gov.au/surveyExternal Link and fill out the survey.”

“Melbourne Metro is a city-shaping project that will transform public transport in Melbourne for thousands of commuters every day, and it’s exciting that people have the opportunity to help shape the project at this early stage.”
