The Andrews Labor Government is seeking feedback from the community on the draft Sustainability Fund Priority Statement as part of its review on how money from the Sustainability Fund should be spent.
This multi-million dollar fund receives money collected from Victorian landfill levies and is set up to position Victoria as a leader in resource recovery, waste management, and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Established under the Environment Protection Act, (1970), the Sustainability Fund supports programs that foster best practice in waste management for the social and economic development of Victoria as well as community action or innovation to cut greenhouse gas emissions or adaptation to climate change in Victoria.
The Sustainability Fund Priority Statement clarifies how eligible programs will be prioritised in order to ensure funds are applied in a way that maximises benefits for Victoria. The draft Priority Statement is one part of the Victorian Government’s broader plan to deliver better waste management and stronger action on climate change. The draft Sustainability Fund Priority Statement is now open for public comment. To find out how you can have your say and make your submission, visit www.delwp.vic.gov.au/sustainability-fund. Submissions close on 20 December 2015.
