22 February 2024

The 2024 Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix is set to top last year’s record-breaking crowds, with support from the Allan Labor Government ensuring the event is an epic boost for local jobs, visitation and our economy.

Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos today joined representatives of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation and Transplumb at Albert Park to view the circuit build progress as the event revs up for another sellout four days.

More than 45,000 grandstand seats will be packed with visitors from across Victoria, interstate and overseas as thousands flock to Melbourne to see the world’s best drivers race in Albert Park.

The huge build features 12 kilometres of track barriers, 99 portable buildings and more than 36,000 square metres of corporate facilities.

While fans soak up the on-track action, off the track there will be epic trackside entertainment, live music and food and wine from the biggest names in Victoria’s iconic restaurant scene.

In a big boost for businesses and jobs, the 2023 event generated $268 million for the Victorian economy and created more than 1,145 full time equivalent jobs while showcasing Melbourne and Victoria’s regions to millions of people around the globe.

The world-class four-day Grand Prix continues to be a pillar of the state’s enviable major events calendar since it moved to Victoria from South Australia in 1996 and is secured in Victoria until 2037.

The Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix runs from 21-24 March, with limited tickets available over the race weekend at
