Racegoers will get the chance to experience the luck of the Irish this Friday, 17 March, when the Moonee Valley Racing Club holds its St Patrick’s Day race meeting.
Racing enthusiasts will enjoy all the action of the Group 2 William Hill Alister Clark Stakes feature race, which can be viewed from the comfort of the Irish-themed Pavilion Deck decorated with wine barrel tables and bentwood stools.
There will also be plenty of action off the track, with patrons entertained by performances from a local Irish dancing school and a folk band between races.
Children will be treated to free face painting and families can take their pick from an array of food stalls offering traditional Irish dishes and other cuisine.
Popular media personalities Pete Lazer and Candy Hertz will MC the race meeting, ensuring the crowd is entertained throughout the evening.
The Andrews Labor Government is providing almost $16,000 toward the Irish-themed event through the Victorian Racing Industry Fund Raceday Attraction Program. The club is contributing almost $33,000 to support the event.
The racing industry in metropolitan Melbourne generates more than $1.5 billion for the Victorian economy and helps sustain more than 13,590 full-time equivalent jobs locally.
