The initial designs for the new Docklands Primary School have been revealed, giving local families a glimpse at what the school will look like.
Minister for Education James Merlino today released the community engagement report, masterplan and design renders for the 3-storey school, which will have capacity for 525 Prep to Year 6 students.
The new Docklands Primary School design includes outdoors learning and play terraces, a competition-size indoor court for basketball and netball, and a library and an art room. Its classrooms will be designed to be flexible and responsive, including spaces to support teaching STEM.
The new Docklands Primary School will be built at 259-269 Footscray Rd, on the corner of Little Docklands Drive, at a site with good walking, cycling and public transport access.
The designs follow community consultation, with feedback from local families on the need for a STEM focus, outdoors areas and a sustainable design all featuring in the masterplan.
Design work for the new school remains on track, with detailed architectural design now under way to refine the school’s internal layout.
The Andrews Labor Government has invested an unprecedented $2.5 billion in school infrastructure over the past three Budgets, to ensure we can continue to cater for the estimated 90,000 students who are expected to enter the school system over the next five years.
This school building boom has delivered more than 1,000 school upgrades and 56 new school projects across the state, supporting almost 5000 construction jobs for Victorians.
The new Docklands Primary School is part of the Government’s comprehensive response to the Docklands school provision review.
