Extra Summer Ferry Services For Phillip Island

15 October 2018

The Andrews Labor Government is introducing extra ferry services between Stony Point and Phillip Island over the busy summer period, so more people can enjoy all the region has to offer.

Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan today announced that an additional 10 weekday services will run to and from Phillip Island between 27 December 2018 to 31 January 2019.

The extra weekday services on the Western Port Ferry will boost travel options for visitors and get more people where they need to go.

The 12.30pm ferry from the mainland gets visitors to Phillip Island in time to enjoy lunch, while the 12.50pm Phillip Island to Stony Point summer service connects with the 1.44pm train to Frankston.

During the summer period, 176 services will run between the islands and mainland each week, including an extra Friday night service between French Island and the mainland.

The extra services are part of the latest timetable change to better match service times to passenger demand.

A new timetable for the ferry service was introduced in late 2017 following the appointment of a new operator, along with a bigger, more comfortable and more reliable vessel.

The new timetables will be introduced 26 October and will be available on the PTV website from 12 October.
