Families in Melbourne’s south-east can now access even more care at the brand-new Cranbourne Community Hospital.

Labor has boosted the Community Hospital with more specialist services so local families can access the care they need, closer to home and for free.

Minister Thomas today toured the new ophthalmology service – which started operating in January.

The ophthalmology service provides eye examinations as well diagnosis and treatment for eye diseases and routine procedures like cataract surgery.

Over 1000 people have already received ophthalmology surgery.

Services at the Cranbourne Community Hospital have opened progressively to ensure the highest standards of care.

Operated by Monash Health, the three-storey building now provides a range of services including:

  • Diagnostic services, including pathology and imaging,
  • pharmacy and mental health services,
  • dialysis and support for both home patients and those that receive centre-based dialysis,
  • community-based palliative care services,
  • a public dental service.

The Community Hospital continues to take pressure off nearby major hospitals, including Casey Hospital, by providing a local option for many routine appointments.

Labor’s $800 million Community Hospitals Program is delivering more world-class services in key growth areas across Victoria.

The Victorian Budget 2025/26 includes $16.81 million for Cranbourne Community Hospital, with a total of $51.93 million over four years.
