Today I am announcing a new Cabinet – a strong, united Labor team focused on what matters most: making life easier, safer and more affordable.
My Labor team has a unity of purpose that is guided by our values.
This is a new team, with new energy and new solutions.
Harriet Shing will become the new Minister for Health, Ambulance Services and Water. She’ll bring new ideas to public health, backing our dedicated workforce, and will drive our work making health care easier and cheaper for busy families to access.
Ingrid Stitt will become the new Special Minister for State, leading the work of the government in transparency, integrity and accountability. She will also become the Minister for Government Services, as well as the Minister for Multicultural and Multifaith Victoria.
The cost of living is putting pressure on family budgets and family time. We’re making work from home a right, we’ve made public transport free in April as a temporary measure and we’re delivering more homes young people can afford near trains and jobs.
That’s why Paul Edbrooke will become the new Minister for Cost of Living to continue this important work. In addition he will become the first Minister for Renters, because only Labor is making renting fairer and more affordable.
He will also become the new Minister for Men and Boys and the Minister for Consumer Affairs.
Steve Dimopoulos will take up the mantle of Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs, in addition to his work as the Minister for Sport and Major Events. A strong economy means more jobs for Victorian workers and their families and so does sport and major events. He will continue to ensure Victoria remains a global leader.
Helping to make sure Victoria remains at the forefront of future jobs and skills, Colin Brooks will serve as Minister for Industry and Advanced Manufacturing, Minister for Defence Industry and Minister for Skills and TAFE. We’ve delivered Free TAFE to help more Victorians get vital skills for secure jobs – for free. He will continue to make sure it remains protected into the future.
Natalie Suleyman will become the Minister for Tourism, in addition to her portfolios as Minister for Veterans and Minister for Small and Family Business and Employment.
Ben Carroll will add Medical Research to his responsibilities and Anthony Carbines will become the new Leader of the House.
Jaclyn Symes will become the Minister for Development Victoria and Precincts, in addition to her role as Treasurer, Minister for Industrial Relations and the Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council.
Labor continues to back the economic, health and safety outcomes for women and girls. But there’s more to do. That’s why Gabrielle Williams will become the new Minister for Women and Girls.
The Suburban Rail Loop will slash travel times and cut congestion for busy families – while delivering 70,000 more homes within walking distance to jobs, healthcare, green open spaces and Australia’s largest universities.
Nick Staikos will become the Minister for Housing and Building and the Minister for the Suburban Rail Loop, continuing on with this vital project.
Enver Erdogan will add Minister for Environment and Minister for Outdoor Recreation to his work as Minister for Casino, Gaming and Liquor Regulation, ensuring we continue to make sure Victorian families can enjoy the great outdoors and our amazing zoos and public spaces for less.
Sonya Kilkenny will become the Minister for Violence Reduction and Minister for Finance to her responsibilities as Attorney-General and Minister for Planning.
We have delivered on earlier interventions and serious consequences and Paul Hamer will continue that work as Minister for Youth Justice and Minister for Corrections, as well as the Minister for Local Government.
Vicki Ward will continue to serve as Minister for Emergency Services, as well as Minister for Natural Disaster Recovery. She will add Minister for Creative Industries, as we continue to back the industry, support local talent and increase access to culture. This is in addition to her responsibilities as the Minister for Equality.
Ros Spence will become the Minister for Roads and Road Safety, in addition to Minister for Community Sport and Minister for First Peoples.
Melissa Horne will add the Minister for Prevention of Family Violence to her responsibilities.
As the Member for Eureka and a proud regional MP, Michaela Settle will become the Minister for Regional Development and Minister for Agriculture.
Luba Grigorovitch will become the Minister for Youth and Minister for Carers and Volunteers.
Tim Richardson will be the new Cabinet Secretary.
This is the strong, united team focused on delivering for Victorian families – and ready for the work ahead.
