People in Eltham now have access to the upgraded facilities they need thanks to a funding boost for two key projects from the Andrews Labor Government.
Minister for Local Government Adem Somyurek today officially opened the Eltham Leisure Centre Aquatic redevelopment project, which received a funding boost of $6.8 million from the Labor Government.
The $20.2 million redevelopment includes a 25 metre, eight lane indoor pool, warm water program pool both with ramp access, learn to swim pool, fully accessible spa and sauna, upgraded change spaces, an outdoor water play area and improved landscaping and car parking.
The project has been delivered by Nillumbik Shire Council, which has contributed $13.4 million towards the redevelopment.
The Labor Government invested $3.8 million from the 2016/17 round of the Growing Suburbs Fund, as well as a $3 million grant from Sport and Recreation Victoria's Community Facility Funding Program - Better Pools.
The Growing Suburbs Fund has invested more than $20 million into the Nillumbik Shire Council for 13 projects, including $500,000 for the Edendale Community Environment farm which also opened today.
The $898,400 Edendale Community Environment farm project has helped transform the site into a more accessible community asset that better caters to environmental education, events and community use.
Works include a new kiosk, outdoor retail space and nursery hothouses, an outdoor teaching space, upgrades to the existing wetlands, the creation of a children’s sensory garden and nature play space and more public amenities.
