Labor is delivering two new modern, safer and more accessible train stations in Melbourne’s west.
Early designs for the new Tottenham and Albion stations have been released.
The stations are being delivered as part of Melbourne Airport Rail Stage 1 – with rail upgrades on the corridor already underway.
More than six kilometres of track between West Footscray and Albion are being upgraded to boost capacity.
The project will untangle one of Victoria’s busiest rail junctions and transform Sunshine into a transport superhub, allowing up to 1,000 trains a day through the corridor.
The $4.1 billion project is jointly funded by the Albanese and Allan Labor Governments.
Tottenham Station will be rebuilt about 20 metres north of its current location on the realigned Sunbury Line.
Passengers will access the station from both sides of the train line via a wider, secure underpass.
The underpass will make it easier and safer for passengers moving between home, work and public transport.
Passengers will also benefit from new platforms with lifts, stairs, shelter and lighting – making it easier for everyone to access services.
The Allan Labor Government is funding and delivering the new Albion Station, which will be rebuilt slightly east of its current location.
The new station will include an accessible concourse with lifts and stairs, plus upgraded lighting, shelters, seating and CCTV.
Melbourne Airport Rail Stage 1 will deliver a direct rail link to Melbourne Airport and enable Melton Line electrification – supporting growing communities in Melbourne’s west.
Works are already underway, with crews relocating underground services between Albion and Sunshine to prepare for the new rail infrastructure.
Works on the new Tottenham and Albion stations are set to be completed in 2030.
