The Andrews Labor Government is investing in the care and comfort of aged care residents on the Murray, with a multi-million-dollar upgrade at NCN Health’s Irvin House in Cobram now complete.
Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers Colin Brooks today announced the $2.1 million refurbishment has created seven new bedrooms and upgraded communal spaces for residents at Irvin House to enjoy.
The project also converted seven double bedrooms into single bedrooms with private ensuites, delivered a new kitchenette and upgraded furniture and fixtures throughout the aged care facility to provide residents with the best possible care.
The upgraded Irvin House also supports residents with complex care needs, including people living with dementia, with the project constructing a circular corridor to promote resident movement throughout the facility.
This investment is funded through the third and fourth rounds of the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF).
After a $300 million boost in the Victorian Budget 2022/23, the $790 million RHIF helps health services and agencies across regional Victoria deliver safe and efficient care for local communities – and has funded more than 480 projects since 2016.
Residents in the nearby Karinya Nursing Home in Numurkah are also enjoying refurbished facilities with a $340,000 bedroom upgrade.
The project has converted one shared bedroom into two separate bedrooms with private ensuites and was funded through the Rural Residential Aged Care Facilities Renewal Program.
The program enables rural and regional residential aged care services across Victoria to invest in modern infrastructure and equipment.
Established by the Labor Government in 2020, the program is part of the Government’s work to improve aged care services for all Victorians, no matter where they live.
