The Albanese and Allan Labor Governments are progressing planning for an upgrade of the High Street Road and Mowbray Drive intersection in Wantirna South, as part of the Suburban Road Blitz – a joint commitment investing in safer, more efficient roads across Melbourne.

The community is being invited to help shape the planning for future intersection upgrades with the potential to improve safety, reduce congestion and support smoother travel for local residents, businesses and road users.

From Monday 16 February to Sunday 8 March 2026, Big Build Roads is seeking feedback to inform planning, including community views on traffic flow, safety concerns and how the intersection is used throughout the day.

Feedback will be used to guide early design work, traffic analysis and on-site investigations to ensure any future upgrade delivers the best possible outcome for the Wantirna South community.

Residents and local businesses are urged to have their say on the Engage Victoria website or speak directly with the project team at Knox Gardens Community Hall, 56 Argyle Way, Wantirna South, on Saturday 28 February between 10:00am and 3:00pm.

Planning work is underway and includes developing a project design, traffic modelling and site investigations to build a clear picture of existing conditions.

At times during site investigations, traffic control measures such as temporary lane closures and reduced speed limits may be required. Disruption will be kept to a minimum, with busy periods avoided where possible.

Planning for the upgrade is expected to be completed later this year and will inform future government funding decisions.

The planning project is part of the $1.2 billion Road Blitz, with contributions of $1 billion from the Australian Government and $200 million from the Victorian Government.
