Construction Blitz To Fix Portland Ring Road

13 October 2017

The Andrews Labor Government is getting on with fixing the Portland Ring Road, with Stage Two of major reconstruction and the summer season of works on the Green Triangle roads about to begin.

The $12 million upgrade will reconstruct key intersections and two kilometres of the Ring Road over six locations, from Kalina Court to the Princes Highway intersection.

Minister for Roads and Road Safety, Luke Donnellan today visited the Portland Ring Road to inspect the recently completed first stage, which saw 1.5kms of pavement rebuilt in three sections.

This major upgrade will deliver deep pavement strong enough to cater for the 2,000 trucks that service the Port of Portland each day.

Another round of significant rehabilitation and strengthening work will also begin in the next fortnight on the Green Triangle network to ensure heavy vehicles have improved access to the Port of Portland.

The Australian and Victorian governments have committed $40 million to upgrade key arterial roads that serve the Port of Portland in the Green Triangle region of south-west Victoria.

The Green Triangle upgrade includes the Henty Highway (Portland Ring Road), Portland-Casterton Road and Portland-Nelson Road.

These works are expected to be complete in early 2018.
