Families, students and schools deserve absolute confidence in exams.
That’s why the Allan Labor Government is rebuilding the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA).
The 2026/27 Victorian Budget invests $222.2 million to restore the VCAA and set it up for the future.
The massive funding boost responds directly to Dr Yehudi Blacher's independent review.
The funding addresses two key recommendations:
making the VCAA’s budget sustainable
upgrading technology so operations are more reliable
Reform implemented last year is already delivering results — helping to deliver successful VCE exams in 2025.
This year’s investment builds on that progress and safeguards exams for the long-term.
Only Labor backs students, teachers and our education system.
Quotes attributable to Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Ben Carroll
"Victorian students deserve a world-class education, and this investment makes sure the VCAA can deliver it.”
"The review left no stone unturned in identifying what went wrong with the exams — and we're fixing them.”
"A stronger, more accountable VCAA means students, families and schools can have full confidence in VCE exams.”
