The Allan Labor Government is investing in Ballarat's growing communities – bringing new sports and recreation facilities to Miners Rest and Lucas.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Ben Carroll and Member for Ripon Martha Haylett today announced the upgrades – making life easier for local families by giving them more ways to get active closer to home.
Miners Rest Primary School will see upgrades to their basketball and netball courts, including a new surface and the installation of sports lighting. These upgrades will be delivered by the Victorian School Building Authority and will enable community use of the courts outside of school hours.
A recreation master plan will also be developed at Howe Street, Miners Rest, updating the original plans for a Miners Rest Community Sport Facility following more extensive assessments of the site.
In nearby Lucas, Labor will deliver an upgraded competition-level oval, new change rooms and amenities at Lucas Central Park.
The announcements bring the total number of Regional Sports Infrastructure Program projects in the Ballarat region to five, including upgrades at Mars Stadium, the Ballarat Regional Athletics Centre and Selkirk Stadium.
Across regional Victoria, 18 projects are now underway thanks to Labor – making our communities even better places to live, work, stay and play.
