Churchill United Soccer Club players are back in the game with the completion of new female friendly change rooms thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.
Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence joined Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing, Latrobe City Council and club officials to officially open the upgraded pavilion at Hazelwood South Reserve, made possible by more than $1 million from the Labor Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program.
With community sport back bigger and better than ever in regional towns like Hazelwood South, the new upgraded facilities will allow the club to grow female teams and host more competition.
The upgraded pavilion includes four new female friendly change rooms, two referees’ change rooms and a first aid room.
The new precinct will provide a modern home for the more than 160 club members to develop new programs, train, host matches and events. Nearby schools and community groups will also have access for school sports and social events.
The Victorian Budget 2022/23 is providing an additional $88 million to deliver new and improved community sports infrastructure and programs to boost participation in local sports clubs and organisations.
This includes continuing the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund, game-changing Female Friendly Facilities Fund and the popular Country Football and Netball Program.
Latrobe City Council was also acknowledged for its financial contribution and management of the project.
