Celebrating The Best And Brightest In Healthcare

16 November 2023

The Allan Labor Government has celebrated Victoria’s healthcare workers and their achievements at the 2023 Victorian Public Healthcare Awards – recognising their contribution to Victorian healthcare.

Minster for Health Mary-Anne Thomas and Minister for Mental Health Ingrid Stitt each paid tribute last night to the dedication, compassion, expertise and achievements of Victorian healthcare workers.

The awards are an opportunity for healthcare workers, public health services, community groups and volunteers to come together and celebrate their selfless work in delivering support and care for all Victorians.

DPVHealth was awarded the prestigious Premier’s Primary Healthcare Service of the Year for a range of programs serving Melbourne’s diverse outer north, including medical, allied health, nursing, mental health, family violence, refugee, NDIS and community programs.

The Royal Women’s Hospital was awarded the Premier’s Large Health Service of the Year for its continued high-quality and compassionate care for families across Victoria as well as being one of the country’s major teaching and research hospitals.

South Gippsland Hospital was awarded the Premier’s Small Health Service of the Year for their work caring for the community of Corner Inlet, with South West Healthcare named the Premier’s Medium Health Service of the Year who provide more than 150 services for 100,000 people in the state’s southwest.

Across the 15 general categories, this year’s winners included Dhelkaya Health’s midwifery group for excellence in women’s health, Monash Health Residential Aged Care’s prevention of occupational violence and Western Health’s Babaneek Booboop Early Years project to engage First Nation’s families in child and family health.

A number of mental health and wellbeing programs took out the highest honours, including Yarra Ranges’ Rural Rainbows mindfulness group for young LGBTQIA+ people and North Western Primary Health Network’s program to strengthen paediatric mental healthcare.
