Building The Best School Facilities For Monbulk

17 August 2018

Monbulk families are a step closer to getting the first-rate facilities they deserve, with construction of major upgrades on track at Monbulk College, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Education James Merlino today visited Monbulk College to inspect progress on the $19 million upgrades currently underway at the school.

These works include construction of a new two-storey cutting-edge resource building – which will include a library – as well as new classrooms, staff offices and specialist learning spaces for ICT and the arts.

This year’s Budget included $8.5 million for a third stage of works at Monbulk College, which will see the school get a new arts and fabrics building, classrooms and staff space.

The school oval will also be upgraded, including improvements to its surface and lighting that will enable Monbulk College to enter into community partnerships with organisations such as the Monbulk Football and Netball Club.

Stages 1 and 2 are on track to be completed in 2019, with the new Stage 3 expected to be completed in 2020.

The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and education, and has invested more than $3.8 billion to improve classrooms, upgrade facilities and build new schools across the state.

This school building boom has delivered more than 1,300 school upgrades and 70 new school projects across the state, supporting more than 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.
