Building The Schools Growing Communities Need

Every Victorian child deserves a great public school close to home.

The Carroll Labor Government is delivering Barramayil Primary School in Aintree - new school and kindergarten in Melbourne’s booming outer west.

The school will open for Term 1 in 2027, with places for up to 700 students.

With two new schools opening next year in Aintree and Officer, we have delivered a total of 123 new schools and more than 2,400 school upgrades across the state – with three more schools on track to open in 2028.

The school will include two learning neighbourhoods, an administration and library building with spaces for specialist subjects, a community hub, a sports field and outdoor hard courts.

The new kinder will open also on the site in 2027 - helping families avoid the dreaded double drop off and make the transition from Kinder to Prep smoother for our youngest learners.

Barramayil is a Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung word meaning emu. The name was chosen after consultation with community and Traditional Owner groups.

Enrolments are open for Prep to Grade 6.

With $40 billion of cuts on the cards from Jess Wilson’s Liberal-One Nation Coalition – education cuts are guaranteed.

The Liberals closed schools, sacked thousands of teachers and left growing communities without the schools they needed.

You can't support schools and families by cutting the services they rely on.
