Building Infrastructure For Our Growing Communities

03 October 2018

The Andrews Labor Government is building vital community facilities in Melbourne’s fastest growing communities to meet the needs of local families for years to come.

Minister for Local Government Marlene Kairouz visited Emerald to mark the start of construction on the $8.1 million Hills Hub Community Centre.

Construction of the new two-storey centre begins this month on the corner of Belgrave-Gembrook and Beaconsfield-Emerald roads in Emerald.

The project is funded with $1.5 million from the Labor Government's Growing Suburbs Fund targeted at Melbourne's 10 municipalities experiencing rapid population growth.

The $200 million Growing Suburbs Fund is supporting new community connections, better services, and more opportunities at the local level.
