Bridges To Get Female Friendly Facilities

18 October 2018

Hurstbridge’s female footballers and netballers have been given a boost thanks to $150,000 in funding from the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Sport John Eren and Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green today announced the funding was being provided to the Hurstbridge Football Netball Club to redevelop its change rooms and make them female friendly.

The football club has a long history in the area going back 104 years, while the netballers joined the club a few years ago and have been steadily building their numbers but the current pavilion at Ben Frilay Oval lacks female friendly facilities.

The redeveloped pavilion will feature accessible and female friendly player and umpire rooms, meaning Hurstbridge’s women and girls will feel more at home.

This funding follows $10,000 earlier this year to progress planning for the redevelopment and $15,000 to upgrade lighting.

This funding package is part of the Labor Government’s strong commitment to sports and active recreation and encouraging all Victorians to get out there and get active.

Across Victoria we've invested more than $420 million in community sport and recreation facilities, and earlier this year provided almost half a billion dollars in the Victorian Budget 2018/19 to support sport and active recreation at all levels.

Mr Eren and Ms Green acknowledged Nillumbik Shire Council for its commitment to the project.
