Labor is backing better facilities for grassroots sporting clubs.
Minister Spence today visited Lionheart Reserve in Taylors Lakes to announce applications are open for the next round of the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund (LSIF).
All Victorian councils and Alpine Resorts Victoria are eligible to apply in partnership with sport and recreation clubs, sport associations and leagues.
Funding up to $500,000 is on offer for projects that boost participation.
It’s all about getting more Victorians into sports, so they can have fun, get fit and spend quality time with family and friends.
Projects funded under previous rounds include:
- $500,000 towards a new youth recreation precinct at Monterey Reserve in Frankston North
- $40,000 for the Horsham Aquatic Centre to help community members get more active
- $150,000 towards the installation of 350 lux LED lighting for six synthetic tennis courts at Maffra Lawn Tennis Club
We are proud to fund initiatives like these because they also create jobs and boost the economy.
The Victorian Budget 2026/27 includes $24 million to continue providing new and improved community sports infrastructure, including through the LSIF.
It’s part of more than $2.4 billion Labor has invested in community sport and recreation infrastructure.
