Boosting Sport Facilities Across Maroondah Region

04 July 2023

Even more sporting clubs are taking their game to the next level with the completion of new sporting facilities at Ringwood’s Jubilee Park and East Ringwood Reserve, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today joined Member for Ringwood Will Fowles MP and Maroondah Mayor Cr Rob Steane to officially open a new indoor cricket centre in Ringwood and new lighting at East Ringwood, all made possible by a $3.56 million funding package from the Labor Government.

At Ringwood’s Jubilee Park, a new indoor cricket training centre called Maroondah Edge is set to bowl over regional cricket thanks to a $3.08 million investment from the Labor Government.

Complete with five-wickets, viewing platform, multipurpose room and office space, the venue will be a strong new home base for the Ringwood Cricket Club as well as host player development programs and support grassroots cricket pathways in Melbourne’s outer east.

At East Ringwood Reserve, the East Ringwood Kangaroos Cricket and Football Clubs can now also enjoy playing under improved oval lighting, made possible by an investment of $480,000 from the Labor Government.

The Victorian Budget 2023/24 is providing more than $213 million to deliver and improve community sports infrastructure and support initiatives that boost participation and inclusion in local sports clubs and organisations.

This takes the Government’s investment into community sport and active recreation infrastructure to more than $1.9 billion since 2014.

From pavilion redevelopments to pitch upgrades, investments like these are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.

Minister Spence acknowledged Maroondah City Council for its financial contribution to the projects.
