Minister for Families and Children, Jenny Mikakos, today launched National Playgroup Week at the Melbourne Museum with a $50,000 investment to support new community playgroups.
The funding will enable new playgroups across Victoria to apply for seed funding so they can get established and buy play equipment and books.
More than 40,000 children and 25,000 families participate in playgroups in Victoria each year.
Playgroups help new parents to make social connections in their local communities, enabling them to learn from and support each other as their children grow.
National Playgroup Week, which runs from March 23 to 30, celebrates playgroups with a range of activities and special events taking place across the state.
