Minister for Training and Skills, Steve Herbert, today announced that high-quality automotive training will now be delivered at Bendigo Kangan Institute’s Charleston Rd campus.
Mr Herbert said an expanded partnership between Bendigo Kangan Institute and Toyota Australia would provide new opportunities for central Victorian apprentices to develop the automotive service skills demanded by local dealerships.
The agreement builds on the existing relationship between Bendigo Kangan Institute’s Automotive Centre of Excellence in Docklands and Toyota Australia, giving central Victorians the opportunity to participate in Toyota’s apprentice training scheme locally for the first time.
The partnership has seen 800 apprentices trained at the Docklands Automotive Centre of Excellence over the past seven years.
Mr Herbert welcomed the expansion of the partnership, noting the importance of public TAFEs having strong industry ties to deliver new training that gives locals the skills they need for the job they want.
The Andrews Labor Government’s $50 million TAFE Back to Work Fund will support public TAFE institutes, like Bendigo Kangan Institute, to develop stronger partnerships with employers and industry, increase industry productivity and help get Victoria back to work.
