Boat Ramp Boost For Lake Bullen Merri

30 May 2019

Boaters and fishers will have better access to the water at Lake Bullen Merri with an upgrade of the boat ramp facility thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Fishing and Boating Jaala Pulford announced today that the Labor Government will invest $25,000 to fund the design work needed to progress an upgrade of the boat launching facility at one of Victoria’s most iconic freshwater fisheries.

The funding for Lake Bullen Merri has been provided through the Boating Safety and Facilities Program and will deliver a much-needed improvement for the South Beach Boat Ramp.

Last year Lake Bullen Merri received $15,000 from the Victorian Fisheries Authority’s Target One Million plan to undertake repair works as a result of storm damage.

The Government’s funding boost of $25,000 is the first step towards improving boating facilities at Lake Bullen Merri and ensures it remains one of South West Victoria’s premier fishing destinations.

This follows the $47.2 million announced in the Victorian Budget 2019/20 to upgrade boat launching facilities at six popular Victorian boat ramps, scrap fees at boat ramps across the state and review the management of boating facilities in Port Phillip and Western Port Bays.
