Hamish and Andy, Tommy Little and Zan Rowe all got their start at Student Youth Network (SYN) media.

Now Labor is making sure the next generation gets the same chance.

Minister for Youth Luba Grigorovitch today announced $240,000 for SYN to keep doing what it does best.

SYN is run by young people, for young people – it trains young Victorians in broadcasting, television and digital media.

Last year alone SYN media:

  • Supported 390 people through media, production and leadership development programs
  • Produced 1,940 radio programs
  • Delivered more than 700 blogs, vlogs and podcasts
  • Engaged 130 volunteers to gain industry skills with pathways into careers

SYN’s Media Learning Programs welcomed more than 3,500 primary and secondary school students last year.

Labor has backed SYN with more than $1.2 million in funding.

Jess Wilson’s Liberal-One Nation coalition will cut $40 billion from the state budget.

Organisations like SYN would be in their sights.

"The Liberals would cut funding to organisations like SYN - Labor will always back young Victorians."

"SYN is where young people find their voice and create their future. We empower young people to develop media and storytelling skills, build career pathways and create connected communities.”

“The Victorian Government has been an important partner in that mission for more than 20 years, helping thousands of young Victorians gain confidence, creativity and practical skills through youth-led media.“

“We're delighted to welcome Minister Grigorovitch to SYN and showcase the remarkable young people whose lives are being changed through that partnership."
