At the Apollo Bay community meeting this afternoon, there was a sense of fortitude in the face of adversity.

Jane Garrett - Member for Brunswick and I met the owner of The Iluka Motel & Restaurant, who donated 40 pizzas to feed evacuated residents last night.

We were also able to speak with emergency workers who are doing all they can to help.

Sadly, the number of confirmed homes destroyed by the Lorne-Jamieson Track fire has increased to 116, as firefighters continue to work around the clock to bring the fire under control.

While we have been fortunate to avoid the ultimate tragedy, spare a thought for those who have lost their homes this Christmas.

There is now no immediate threat to the Lorne township but emergency services are asking the community to remain vigilant.
