Colac will soon have access to a larger, purpose-built Men’s Shed, following $60,000 in funding from the Andrews Labor Government.
In Colac today, Minister for Families and Children Jenny Mikakos joined local shedders on site to view progress on the construction of the new Men’s Shed at the Colac Showgrounds.
Previously, the Colac Men’s Shed operated from a shared site at Skills’ Connection Inc., a disability service provider on Pound Road.
It relocated earlier this year after receiving funding through the 2015-16 Men’s Shed funding round, which provided a total of $750,000 to support the construction of 15 Men’s Sheds across Victoria.
The new larger shed will support the growing number of Colac men who want to join the Men’s Shed group, with a number of exciting projects scheduled to go ahead once the final fit-out is complete.
There are currently more than 340 Men’s Sheds in operation state-wide.
Earlier this year the Labor Government launched the 2016-17 Men’s Shed funding round of $1 million to support the construction of new Men’s Sheds and the refurbishment of existing ones, with successful applicants announced later this year.
