$5.5 Million Boost For Carnegie Primary School

07 October 2019

Carnegie Primary School students now have the world-class facilities they need to thrive, thanks to a $5.5 million investment by the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Education James Merlino and Member for Oakleigh Steve Dimopoulos today visited Carnegie Primary School to officially open the school’s new facilities and announce $129,000 of additional funding for landscaping works.

These works will include concrete paving, timber seating, play equipment, an area for sand play, garden beds and grassed areas.

The school’s capital upgrade features a brand-new games hall with a state-of-the-art stadium with spectator seating, and specialist learning spaces.

The design of the new Games Hall responds to the architecture of the school’s existing historic buildings, by referencing and incorporating key elements to create a cohesive, integrated and contemporary design.

The upgrades also include a refurbishment of student and staff amenities, a new canteen and landscaping to encourage outdoor learning and nature play.

Improved school buildings create a sense of pride amongst students, staff and families, facilitating learning in a contemporary, collaborative and nurturing environment.

Carnegie Primary School is part of the Labor Government’s school building boom that will see 100 new government schools open by 2026. The Labor Government has invested $5.6 billion to deliver more than 1,400 school upgrades, supporting over 7,500 construction jobs for Victorians.
