Labor is making it easier and cheaper for families to get hooked on the great outdoors.

The Victorian Budget 26/27 includes $5 million to extend the popular Go Fishing Victoria program.

More fish will be released into Victorian waterways over the next year.

It gives families a fun, affordable way to spend time together outdoors.

Fishing boosts regional economies by drawing visitors to local towns, tackle shops and cafes.

The funding will also support the expanded Arcadia and Snobs Creek hatcheries which produce Murray cod and golden perch fingerlings.

Victoria has stocked 10 million fish in three of the last four years thanks to the Allan Labor Government.

Fish species stocked include brown trout, rainbow trout, chinook salmon and tiger trout along with native species like Murray cod, golden perch, Australian bass, estuary perch, silver perch and dusky flathead.

More than 200 lakes and rivers across the state have been stocked to improve recreational fishing opportunities.

Only Labor will invest in regional Victoria, and the programs and services communities rely on.

The Liberals’ and Nationals’ $11.5 billion budget black hole means cuts to regional services and projects to pay off their debt.
