Yarram Recreation Reserve Goes Solar

01 June 2017

The Andrews Labor Government is supporting local sporting clubs in Gippsland go green – to reduce emissions and cut costs.

Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio visited Yarram Recreation Reserve today to announce a $24,375 grant to install 93 solar panels on the clubrooms.

Local company Gippsland Solar will install the new panels, which will dramatically reduce energy costs, saving around $6,800 per year.

The funding is from the Latrobe Valley Authority’s $20 million Community Facility Fund, which supports projects that make the local communities more attractive places to live, work and visit.

The Reserve services the mighty Yarram Football Netball Club, Yarram Lions Club, Yarram SES, Southern Suns Junior Football Club, Colts Junior Football Club, Yarram Pony Club, Yarram Campdraft, Yarram Red Cross, Yarram Agricultural Society, Yarram Junior Cricket Club, Yarram Adult Riders, Weight Watchers and U3A.
