Victorian Liberals In Hiding As Malcolm Turnbull Rips Off Our State Yet Again

28 September 2016

Federal Liberal MPs across Victoria are in hiding as their Sydney-centric bosses Malcolm Turnbull and Scott Morrison blatantly rip off Victoria and spend our taxpayer dollars in New South Wales.

The Andrews Labor Government has delivered on its election commitment to lease the port and use the funding to remove 50 of our most dangerous and congested level crossings, creating thousands of jobs.

Mr Turnbull had agreed to top up this funding by 15 per cent – or about $1.4 billion – just like he did in Sydney. But now he’s reneged on his commitment, ripping off Victorians by $650 million.

As a result, Victoria is missing out on its share of hundreds of millions of dollars that Mr Turnbull promised under that deal.

This is short-changing Victorians out of vital funding that could go to removing more level crossings, better rail infrastructure or improving roads.

It’s time Federal Victorian Liberal MPs come out of hiding and say whether they think it’s acceptable that our State is being dudded yet again.

Mr Turnbull was already ripping Victorians off by sending Victorian taxpayer money to fund projects in his hometown of Sydney.

Victoria misses out on its fair share of infrastructure funding, with 9 per cent of the national total going to Victoria and 31 per cent going to New South Wales.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Ports Luke Donnellan

“Once again Sydney-centric Malcolm Turnbull is ripping off our state and not giving Victoria its fair share of infrastructure funding.”

“Victorians are entitled to the full 15 per cent that was promised by Malcolm Turnbull to fund road and rail upgrades that our State needs and voted for.”

“It’s time Liberal MPs came out of hiding and stood up to Malcolm Turnbull and his Sydney mates – they either back Victoria or they don’t.”
