The Andrews Labor Government will be putting more money back into apprentice tradies’ wallets in the New Year, with the new half-price registration scheme starting on 1 January 2016.
The first round of registration renewal notices will be issued next week outlining the steps for eligible trade apprentices to take advantage of the Government’s discount for apprentices.
From 1 January, eligible apprentices paying standard registration on a light vehicle in metropolitan Melbourne will save $385.70 per year and apprentices in regional Victoria including Bendigo and Ballarat will save $330.20.
The Government is supporting the skills of the next generation of Victorian workers, and the money that trade apprentices save on registration costs can now be invested in more training and more tools.
Bricklayers, carpenters, joiners, electricians and plumbers are among those eligible if their employer can verify that the use of their vehicle is an essential part of their work.
Almost 20,000 apprentices enrolled in eligible trade courses will be able to take advantage of this discounted rego.
