Super Saturday Comes Alive At Flemington

08 March 2019

The Victoria Racing Club is set to celebrate its first ever Super Saturday Garden Party race meeting this weekend, thanks to support from the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Racing Martin Pakula today announced the Labor Government will provide $60,000 from the Victorian Racing Industry Fund’s Raceday Attraction Program, alongside $186,000 from the Victoria Racing Club.

The Super Saturday Garden Party will give food and wine lovers plenty to enjoy, with tastings on offer as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival including locally brewed craft beers, botanical-inspired cocktails, local wines and food from some of Melbourne’s top restaurants.

The event will also feature live music from Melbourne Ska Orchestra, children’s sporting activities and games and roving entertainers such as human hedges, flower walkers on stilts and magician, The Marvellous Mr Marmalade.

Since 1 December 2014, the Labor Government has provided $14.3 million to support 6 thoroughbred events and 15 infrastructure projects for the Victoria Racing Club.

The racing industry in Inner Melbourne generates more than $1.9 billion of real gross added value for the Victorian economy each year and sustains more than 13,780 full-time equivalent jobs.
