The Andrews Labor Government has contributed more than $5000 to help make the Stawell Harness races this Australia Day a great day out for families.
Minister for Racing, Martin Pakula, said the races, to be held on 26 January at Laidlaw Park, Stawell, were a community event that brought together racegoers from all over the Grampians.
The Stawell Harness Racing Club has ensured there will be an action-packed day of harness racing and entertainment, including:
- free racebooks for the first 200 patrons wearing green and gold
- face painting, jumping castles and go-karts
- free show bags for all children
- live music
- prize giveaways – fuel vouchers for adults and iTunes vouchers for kids
- pony trots
Entry is free and the Stawell Harness Racing Club will also put on a great Aussie BBQ. Everyone that enters the prize draws or follows the club on Facebook or Twitter on the day, will get a $5 BBQ voucher.
The Labor Government will provide $5325 from the Victorian Racing Industry Fund – Raceday Attraction Program, with the SHRC contributing $4550 and $500 from a local business, towards a total project cost of $10,375.
